Summerlea CP School Growing thoughtful learners and independent thinkers

Dragons' Den Week

Dragons’ Den Week

Dragons’ Den Week was once again a huge success. At the start of the week each year group were set the challenge of designing and making a unique product or service to gain the investment of our Dragons. Everyone set to work and there was a hive of activity across the school with creative juices flowing and lots of market research being undertaken. Pitches were made by year group representatives on the Wednesday and after lots of grilling, sampling and calculating investments were agreed. Thursday saw the production lines begin in preparation for the Summerlea Market on the Friday. Advertisements were displayed and stalls set up. Doors opened shortly after 3pm when the selling began. There was an incredible turn out and Year 6 were the first year group to sell out after less than 20 minutes, closely followed by Year 5. The overall winners (the year group with the best profit margin) were EYFS who were selling handmade play dough available in different colours and scents. This product raised £141.59. Overall an amazing £898.10 was raised in less than an hour (a new record). All proceeds will go towards new maths resources for the school and EYFS will work with the maths team to help select a range of games and equipment. Well done and thank you to all involved and a special thank you to Mrs Crook for organising this fun event.
