Our Resident Ducks

Our Resident Ducks

You may well have heard already that our resident ducks have once again nested in our school courtyard. We came back after the Easter to find 17 very cute and fluffy ducklings and a very proud mum! To begin with they were all moving so quickly they were impossible to count and we weren’t sure exactly how many babies there were.

Sadly, 2 of the ducklings were attacked last week by crows and died but the remaining 15 are all doing well and getting bigger by the day. The ducks are providing some wonderful learning opportunities for the children as they observe them and the staff are also very taken with them and consider them an extended part of our Summerlea family!

We are providing food and water for them and we will contact Wadars Animal Rescue, as we did last year, once the ducklings are ready to be re-homed.
