Sensory Room

Sensory Room

We have been fortunate enough to be able to create a sensory room to help better meet the needs of one of our Year 5 pupils, Ollie Sealby, who has a diagnosis of autistic spectrum condition and has sensory needs. Key stakeholders were invited to a small but very special opening ceremony. Thanks were given to all involved and included the cutting of a ribbon as the room was declared by Ollie to be officially open! The great thing about the sensory room (which we have named the Sealby Space after Ollie) is that not only will it really benefit Ollie but also other children with sensory needs too. Mr and Mrs Sealby, Ollie’s parents, are thrilled with the new room and know what a difference it will make to him. They said: “We can’t thank everyone enough, and it’s amazing how so many people have contributed. We love the idea of his legacy living on after he leaves the school at the end of Year 6.” Ollie was equally pleased with the space themed room, which has a plaque with his name on inside. This is an amazing resource and Summerlea are very fortunate to now have this as part of the provision for pupils with special educational needs.
